Support over three years for Rx Kids: Prenatal and Infant Allowances, which seeks to advance health equity by proactively addressing maternal and infant economic instability. Leaning on the science of early childhood and the life-long consequences of exposure to early adversity, Rx Kids will provide all expectant mothers in the city of Flint a one-time prenatal allowance ($1,500) and all infants allowances of $500/month for the first 12 months. Rx Kids aims to fill a scientific gap in health disparities research with a community-level disruption of poverty before and during early childhood, when it is most prevalent and most toxic. Rx Kids is led by Michigan State University-Hurley Children’s Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative (PPHI), in partnership with the Greater Flint Health Coalition, University of Michigan Poverty Solutions, and GiveDirectly.
